Urban Studies Lab (USL)
Bangkok (Pom Prap Sattru Phai) · Bangkok · Thailand
An independent urban lab founded in Bangkok in 2018 by practitioners and researchers. It works as an urban living lab: residents, government, companies, NGOs and academia are partners, and solutions are tested in the neighbourhood. In Nang Loeng it facilitated a pocket park run by district and community, and in 2020 it gave Covid Relief Bangkok the data to find the most vulnerable households. The lab says its pilot inspired the city's participatory budgeting. Tension: it relies on foundations and companies, and is based in a Ford centre.
