HAGISO / hanare 萩荘
Yanaka, Tokio · Kanto · Japan
A 1955 wooden apartment building saved from demolition and reborn as "Tokyo's smallest cultural complex". Its hanare hotel applies the machiyado concept: the whole town is a hotel, guests bathe in the neighbourhood sento and local shops act as the hotel's amenities.
