Thailand Biennale
Bangkok (Huai Khwang) · Nationwide · Thailand
State contemporary art biennial that moves province with every edition to take art out of Bangkok: Krabi in 2018, Korat in 2021, Chiang Rai in 2023, Phuket in 2025 and Rayong in 2027 to 2028, this time directed by an artists' collective. It is the umbrella programme for its editions. Tension: it is institutional and tied to tourism and regional development; the Rayong edition follows the government's plan to turn an industrial city into an art city, and what it leaves in each place remains to be seen.
