Baan Luang Rajamaitri บ้านหลวงราชไมตรี
Chanthaburi · East · Thailand
Reuse of vacancyCommons and belongings. f. (premio UNESCO 2015)
House of about 150 years that belonged to a local aristocrat, on the Chanthaburi riverbank, restored as an inn and museum with money from more than 500 small shareholders. UNESCO gave it an Award of Merit in 2015, noting that it raised heritage awareness among many actors in the city and drove the revival of the riverside neighbourhood. Its civic value lies in its collective ownership, not its use: it is above all tourist accommodation.
