PADETC, Participatory Development Training Centre
Naxaythong (Vientiane) · Nationwide · Laos
A Lao training centre in participatory development for young people, teachers and local officials. Its youth volunteer network (about 1,800 in 2006) made radio, forum theatre and children's books, and each development volunteer ended four months of training with a project of their own. Its founder, a 2005 Ramon Magsaysay laureate, was the victim of an enforced disappearance in Vientiane on 15 December 2012, a case still unresolved. According to ALiSEA it closed in November 2019, a date that still needs a second source.
