Kudichin ชุมชนกุฎีจีน
Bangkok (Thon Buri) · Bangkok · Thailand
Third placeArt and territorys. XVIII; revitalización 2008
A riverside neighbourhood in Thonburi born after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, where Buddhist temples, the Catholic Santa Cruz church of the Portuguese descendants, a Chinese shrine and two mosques have lived side by side ever since. Since 2008 it has been revived as a walkable cultural tourism destination, and a Thai-Portuguese family opened a free museum on the area's memory in its wooden house. It matters as religious coexistence sustained in daily life, with the open question of how much tourism it can take without emptying out.
