Participatory urbanismCivic labs and participation2017 (empresa KKTS)
The best-known attempt by a secondary Thai city to fund its own infrastructure without waiting for Bangkok. About twenty business owners put capital into a think tank that pushed for a light rail line, and in 2017 the city and four neighbouring municipalities set up a public company to build and run it. It is included as a contested case: the closeness between business owners and politicians raises suspicion, and they were accused of steering station locations to lift their land values. In 2025 construction had still not begun.
