Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park อุทยาน 100 ปี จุฬาฯ
Bangkok (Pathum Wan) · Bangkok · Thailand
A park of about 28 rai opened in 2017 on the university's commercial land, designed as a basin to hold rainwater and cited worldwide as a model of climate resilience. Giving such central land to green space rather than business was an unusual decision in Bangkok. Local critics tell the other side: the works ruined small shops in Samyan, the area has become more expensive, a nearby shrine remains under pressure and the university controls which activities are allowed.
