Civic design collectivesParticipatory urbanism1989

An Asian network founded in 1989 that supports urban poor savings groups and their federations so they can negotiate land and housing with governments. Its ACCA programme has funded small works and neighbourhood improvements chosen by communities in some 165 cities across 19 countries. The Community Architects Network, which brings together young architects working side by side with residents, is part of it. It is the intellectual source of Baan Mankong and shares people and method with CODI.
