Commons and belongingCivic food2009 / 2012
Six villages fish in this Mekong wetland, which an irrigation sluice gate had cut off from the river. Between 2009 and 2012 a fishway was built with residents, men and women, who according to the Australian embassy manage and maintain it; more than 170 species pass through it and the villages agreed common fishing strategies. Tensions: the gate is operated for rice, there is a risk of overfishing at the fishway itself and everything published comes from the project, with no data after 2015.
