Ban Nampheng Bitter Bamboo Group
Namor (Oudomxay) · North · Laos
Commons and belongingCivic foodantes de 2017
A village group that manages a bitter bamboo forest under its own rules: shoots are harvested only from December to March, then the forest is closed, and hoes are banned to protect the rhizomes. The whole village sells its shoots to the group, which pays 5,200 kip per kilo and keeps 300 for a revolving fund for shared works and credit. There is no news since 2017, when the network that supported it documented it; in 2024 the province signed a bamboo concession that includes Namor.
