Maison du Patrimoine (Luang Prabang)
Luang Prabang · North · Laos
A technical office created by decree in 1996, after the town's World Heritage listing, with the cooperation of Chinon and the Centre region. It drafted the safeguarding plan and advised on building permits; Lao technicians have run it since 2001, and in 2025 its status was still pending. A 2021 academic analysis concludes the programme stayed "very far" from participation, with a committee of village chiefs as the only documented channel. It protected the buildings without stopping residents from leaving.
