Children's Cultural Centre (Luang Prabang)

Art and territoryCivic labs and participations. f. (red de centros, 1994)

A public centre in the heritage old town where children and teenagers learn traditional dance and music, ipok rod puppetry, drawing and crafts. According to Japanese aid groups, around 2019 some 20 people used it on weekdays and about 100 on holidays, and older children taught younger ones. It belongs to a network created in 1994 with the Japanese NGO ALC. It gives children a space in an old town emptied by tourism, but it is state-run, teaches official culture and depends partly on that aid.
