Big Brother Mouse

Luang Prabang · North · Laos

Third placeCommons and belonging2006

A publisher of children's books in Lao, also free to download, that holds book parties in schools and, according to its website, now runs nine schools with about 3,500 pupils. Its Luang Prabang room opens every morning and late afternoon so young Lao people can practise English and chat with travellers: a simple, free meeting point. Tensions: it relies on donations and visitors, the organisation itself says far fewer young people have come since covid, and the format borders on voluntourism.
