Mole Vanvitelliana

This pentagonal lazaretto, built in the eighteenth century by Luigi Vanvitelli on an artificial island in the port of Ancona, went through military and health uses until the city council acquired it in 1990 and restored it as a cultural centre. It now houses exhibitions, festivals, the Museo Omero of tactile art for blind people, and social meeting spaces open all year round. It is the main converted cultural facility of the Marche regional capital.
