A cooperative and participatory supermarket opened in 2017 in the Fives district of Lille, following the model of the Park Slope Food Coop in New York and La Louve in Paris. Members contribute capital, vote in the general assembly and work three hours a month in the shop, which allows low margins and prices more competitive than large retailers. It raises the same tension as other cooperative supermarkets: it demands time and availability, which can exclude those who need it most.
