Le Quartier Libre

Rouen · Normandie · France

Reuse of vacancyThird place2022

An 8,000 m² plot on the left bank of Rouen, occupied since 2019 by the Friche Lucien and relaunched in 2022 as Le Quartier Libre, pending works for the future Saint-Sever station. It brings together bars, local food outlets and around ten businesses in recycled containers, with year-round cultural programming. It is a case of long-term transitional urbanism, designed to last a decade, where it is worth asking how much weight the community side carries against the leisure business model.
