A former 1904 textile conditioning warehouse, in the heart of a city that lived off cotton and wool, refurbished in 2004 by architect Patrick Bouchain for the Lille 2004 year as cultural capital. It is now a cultural laboratory run jointly with the region, the metropolitan authority and the city council, with residencies, fairs and a social hotel. A criticism reported by the local press is that these cultural conversions of former factories benefit the middle classes more than the working-class residents nearby.
