S.a.L.E. Docks

In 2007 a group of activists occupied a former salt warehouse in Dorsoduro to create an independent space for contemporary art and critical thought against the privatisation of culture in Venice. S.a.L.E. Docks organises exhibitions, seminars and public actions, and is part of the city's social movement networks, from housing to the fight against large cruise ships. Its underlying tension is exposing how art itself can fuel the gentrification it fights against.
