Macao
Milán · Lombardia · Italy
In 2012 a collective of cultural workers occupied the Palazzina Liberty in Milan, on the Viale Molise, to demand public space for the arts after the sector's crisis. Macao became a symbol of the Italian occupied-space movement, but it was evicted in 2021 and the building was left closed. In November 2025 the city council awarded its refurbishment to a private property developer, on condition that a socio-cultural use is maintained.
