Comunanza Agraria di Santo Stefano dei Piccioni

Foligno (PG) · Umbria · Italy

Third placeCommons and belonging1913

The Comunanza Agraria di Santo Stefano dei Piccioni manages land of medieval origin in a small hamlet of Foligno, in Umbria, with usi civici rights going back to associations older than the municipality itself. It regularised its position with the Italian state between 1913 and 1925 and today administers forest land and limestone quarry land as an inalienable and imprescriptible asset. It is a modest but living example of peasant communal governance in the Umbrian Apennines, distinct from the Università Agraria di Viepri already featured in the atlas.
