Commons and belongingCivic labs and participation2011

A village in the Aspromonte that was losing population to emigration until, from 2011, the social cooperative Jungi Mundu (founded in 1999) began housing asylum seekers in empty houses in the historic centre and giving them work in ceramics, sewing and food workshops. Today half of its roughly four hundred inhabitants are migrants, and their arrival allowed the school, the post office and the cash machine to reopen. The programme depends on public funds from the Ministry of the Interior, which creates uncertainty about its continuity.
