Commons and belongingParticipatory urbanism2021

An intergenerational residence of 35 homes in the Grand-Mare district of Rouen, driven since 2016 by the neighbourhood association BVGM and built together with a social housing operator. 60% of the homes are reserved for older people, with a garden shared with the rest of the neighbourhood. It is a rare example of habitat participatif born in a working-class neighbourhood rather than in affluent areas, although replicating it depends on finding social operators willing to share the design process.
