Zinneke Parade
Brussels, Belgium
Art and territoryArt festival or triennialRegional
Biennial parade through central Brussels organised since 2000 by the Zinneke association. It is not a pageant of professional floats: each group (zinnode) brings together residents, associations, schools and artists from different neighbourhoods for months, creating costumes, music and sets around a shared theme. Some 1,500 people paraded in 2026. Tension: it depends on regional subsidies, and the 2026 edition was in doubt because of the Brussels Region political deadlock and went ahead scaled down.
