Reborn-Art Festival リボーンアート・フェスティバル
Ishinomaki, Japan
Art and territoryRural life and depopulationArt festival or triennialNational
Festival of art, music and food in Ishinomaki and the Oshika peninsula (Miyagi), created in 2017 in the area devastated by the 2011 tsunami. Editions were held in 2017, 2019 and 2021-22 (the latter in two periods, with about 220,000 visitors). At the close in October 2022 the organisers left the next date undecided and no later announcement could be found; the official site was not responding. Relevant as a case of art and reconstruction, with the tension of depending on a music producer and private sponsorship.
