Open Data Day Bangkok (WeVis)

Bangkok, Thailand

Civic tech and digital democracyDemocratic innovationOther formatNational

Annual gathering through which the civic tech collective WeVis joins the global Open Data Day each March. The format changes every year: a forum on election data in 2023, a forum and project showcase on disasters in 2025, a datathon on Parliament in 2026. It is small (around a hundred people) and free, yet it is the only recurring Thai civic tech gathering that can be verified. Tension: it depends on a single collective and its media partnerships, and has been held in a shopping mall.
