New festival by Tohoku University of Art and Design in Yamagata city, replacing the Yamagata Biennale (2014 to 2024) with a format the university calls sustainable. The first edition, in November 2026, uses the art museum, the square in front of it and the former school turned creative centre Q1, and invites a hundred residents to make works inside wooden boxes. A case of a mid-sized university festival with explicit citizen participation.
