Maaseutuparlamentti (Finnish Rural Parliament)

Finland

Rural life and depopulationDemocratic innovationSummitNational

Finland's rural parliament: an open and free national gathering on the future of the countryside, coordinated by the Rural Policy Council (MANE) with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the national rural network and the host municipality. Three days of debates, workshops and visits with associations, Leader groups, researchers and public administration. It was held in 2017 (Leppävirta), 2021 (Kurikka) and 2024 (Nurmes), and the next edition is in October 2027 in Ii, near Oulu. Its institutional weight is high, since it is driven by the state's own rural policy.
