Danish democracy festival held since 2011 in Allinge (Bornholm) in mid-June, first as a municipal project and since 2016 run by Foreningen Folkemødet. For three days it gathers parties, organisations and citizens in informal debates in tents and open stages. Inspired by Almedalen, it is the most cited example of how a peripheral place can become a national public square.
