European Week of Regions and Cities

Bruselas, Belgium

Participatory urbanism and placemakingRural life and depopulationConferenceEuropean

The largest annual gathering in Brussels on European regional and urban policy, with over a hundred sessions run by regions, cities, networks and the Commission itself. It targets public officials and cohesion fund managers, yet many sessions address citizen participation, depopulation and place-based local development. It is an institutional space: useful to understand where the money and the policy frame come from, not to find grassroots practice. The 2026 edition is the 24th.
