Festival born in 2014 as Ichihara Art x Mix in southern Ichihara (Chiba), around the Kominato railway line and its closed schools, as a response to satoyama depopulation. In 2024 it expanded to five municipalities on the inner Tokyo Bay coast and in 2027 it becomes the Boso Triennale, with Chiba Prefecture as co-organiser. Close to Tokyo, so the most accessible territorial triennial. Tension: fast institutional growth and the weight of celebrity figures.
