Arvamusfestival (Opinion Festival)

Paide, Estonia

Democratic innovationFestivalNational

Estonia's opinion festival, organised since 2013 by the association MTÜ Arvamusfestival in Paide, a small town in the centre of the country, over two days in early August on the castle hill (Vallimägi). It gathers over nine thousand people in open debates between politics, business, science and civil society. The programme comes from an idea call with a free area of limited places, but running one's own debate area costs between 350 and 1,200 euros per event. The Baltic reference case.
