Almedalsveckan (Almedalen Week) Almedalsveckan
Visby, Sweden
Democratic innovationFestivalNational
Political week in Visby (Gotland), born in 1968 from Olof Palme's summer speeches and coordinated by Region Gotland. Each day is devoted to a Riksdag party and over a thousand organisers run free seminars. The original model for Nordic democracy festivals: a high density of contact between politics, civil society and citizens, with the tension of a growing presence of companies and lobbies.
