Annual days organised by the Zentrum für Demokratie Aarau, held without interruption since 2009. They combine a free public evening of political debate with a one or two day scientific conference, each year on one theme (federalism in 2024, Switzerland and war in 2025, trust in 2026, education in 2027). A good window into how Swiss direct democracy thinks about itself; the tension is that its centre of gravity is academic and institutional, and citizen participation appears more as an object of study than as a practice.
